Lord Byron (George Gordon Byron) (1788 - 1824) was among the most famous of the English 'Romantic' poets. In addition he was a satirist whose poetry and personality captured the imagination of Europe. His major works include Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage and Don Juan.

So, we'll go no more a-roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.
For the sword outweighs its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.
Though the night was made for loving,
